What kind of snare does he have? and heads? he has a ludwig acrolite snare, not sure about what kind of heads.

Like, the snappyness the head has a part in the sound, but the snare itself contributes most of the tone. those ludwig snares are made of aluminum, which has a really clear, crisp attack. i know he tunes the heads up really high too.

Me and a friend just built a phone mic from an ancient Bakelite phone we smashed with a hammer... It produces a pitch shifted note above whatever goes into it! Also, it cuts out all noise below a certain level. Sounds great with distortion....
