And surely you can pick a better band to rip off than that...

Wow, this is a proper adolescent fight. You bunch of hissy girls But just for the record, I'd like to say I thought their cover sucked, but good luck to em for bringing something better than their bollock pop songs to the masses.

Oh no...Just heard the Muse cover and it's pretty fucking terrible- are they trying to deter their fans from listening to Lightning Bolt? That cover is definitely not in LB's favour, it doesn't do them any justice at all! Jeez... That has to be the biggest load of shit I've ever heard, if you saw the Muse Message Board (Which has members from all over the world) after those two gigs, you'd realise just how much in LB's favour it was. Endless threads on what that song was and where to download/buy it from. So I think you should give Muse some credit for it, although they shouldn't have watered it down as much, it worked brilliantly on the night (I must point out again that I was actually there to witness it) and perhaps the "watered down" nature of it has helped Muse fans to get into LB, rather than put them off (LB can be a little daunting for some people at first).

Right, so all those people at the Muse gig heard Lightning Bolt lite...that's still pretty lame, it's good that some people left the gig and checked out Lightning Bolt, but the recording I heard sounded NOTHING like Lightning Bolt. Maybe I'll get my pompous stadium rock band to cover an Agoraphobic Nosebleed song, except for we'll slow it down and sing over the top. Would that do the band any justice? No, because it'd be a bad representation of a good band (in my opinion).

I don't like Muse, but it sounds like people who don't like the cover are arguing more on the side of it hurting Lightning Bolt, which is ridiculous. When did a band covering a song ever hurt the original band's sales? it usually has the opposite effect. And if it's a poorly done cover, then it only hurts the band covering it. It sounds like some of you just don't want anyone else to like Lightning Bolt. That would suck for the Brians.

Hey, I was there at Earls Court, and it worked well as a gig opener. As a Muse fan, I would have no problem with LB doing a cover of Muse even if it did sound shit. . . There's no contest between the LB and the Muse cover (anyway, it wasn't Matt Bellamy playing it, it's a bass with a pitchshifter), because the LB version is brilliant.
They'll probably never play it again anyway...

I want as many people to like Lightning Bolt as possible, I just have issues with bands I don't like covering good songs, partcicularly 'teenage kicks'! I was actually more pissed off with the whole 'skronk' thing, it's so fucking irritating. Where did they get that from? Well anyway, More LB fans= more fun, I'm really not some elitist LB fans!

yeah, that was my biggest problem with the whole thing too. the cover, whatever, its throwaway, but the fact that they cant even get their facts remotely straight when theres quite a bit of info about them around - its just kind of insulting. its like they read that spin article everyone got so bent out of shape about and decided to get in on the fun, haha...
